Time to get out! I’ve been cooped up: sitting at my desk, working, typing, thinking. You know, the usual life of a writer type of thing. I can’t stand it today. It’s a beautiful sunny day and later there are supposed to be more thunderstorms. Yuck!
I’ve decided a field trip is in order. That’s right as CEO of Ellie Mack productions, I’ve declared a personal holiday and heading out to the great outdoors. Oh, don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten my tools. I have my bottle of sunscreen – check. I have two notebooks in case I just happen to fill up the first – check. Three pens in different color – because when you make side notes it has to be in a different color to grab your attention – check. My Dolce Gabanna cool shades – smokin’ hot and check.
I’m not sure how much people watching will be done, but I’m sure there will be observations made from the passing cars, the neighbor cutting their grass, and the neighbor that’s cursing while cleaning the pool. Dutiful notes will be recorded as I sip my ice tea, and listen to my tunes. Ginger will be right by my side – if I can just keep her from climbing on top of me, we’ll get along just fine. Ginger is my chow/golden retriever mix dog. She’s adorable.
Ah! Time for myself, to relax and catch a few rays. I know all the information about skin cancer – hence the sunscreen. Trust me though, these legs need a little color. Now that I can go without the leg brace for at least part of the time, I”m getting around much better! The crutches are hidden in the darkest recesses of the hall closet.
I’m hoping that when I visit the doctor tomorrow, he’ll graduate me up to the stationary cycle, then hopefully not too long after that I can wear my pretty shoes. Did I mention I like shoes? My husband pampers me with buying me shoes.
Lately I’ve been restricted to the flats, the New Balance, and the flip-flops at the pool for my aquaclass. It will be nice to wear nice shoes again! Of course, it will be nice to be able to resume the activities I did before this little mishap sidelined me.
I have some tangles to work out in Kiss of the Dragon; and a scene to change in Faere Guardian; and something else in the works on the drawing board. Pen and paper are the most effective tools for me to work those little tangles out with, plus I get to doodle in the margins while I think. The side benefit of tanning these gams is purely the whipped cream on top. (The cherry will be when I get this mess worked out on my scenes.)
*SIGH* Today really is one of those writer fantasy days. Lounging in the sun, basking in the rays as I strain my brain. I won’t be sipping fruity drinks with a little umbrella served by a handsome guy named Javier. I made my own pitcher of tea, and poured a big bowl of water for Ginger. I’m not sitting poolside either, I don’t own a pool, yet.
Enjoy your day! I know I”m going to enjoy mine! Write on my friends, write on!
